Jessica Jayne Lewis Day of birth: March 4, 1994 I was 12 years old when I first showed an interest in playing a musical instrument (electric guitar), today that's my Fender Stratocaster. My Nan was the person who introduced me to the music of guitarist Joe Satriani and since then I have never looked back. I have been both influenced and inspired by people like Steve Vai, Guthrie Govan and Paul Gilbert. Reading music I couldn't do but playing by ear is what came naturally, so I would watch, listen and learn from those I admired. It was at the Royal Manor Arts College that I was awarded the 'Young Talented Musicians Award' for Dorset. The Rotary Club (a local fund raising group) kindly sponsored me for two years (one week courses) in 2009 and 2010 with the International Guitar Foundation where I studied 'Rock & Beyond + Jazz', where I met Stu Hamm (Bass Player of Joe Satriani's band) and Jammed with Dario Cortese (IGF Tutor). My music was starting to lean more towards Jazz/Fusion.. So I began performing at different gigs/festivals (MonkeyFest) and where possible, to help build my confidence and performance skills. In April 2010 after recording myself playing 'Feeling Fine' and 'Happy as Larry' (by Alex Hutchings) and putting it on 'YouTube', I was invited by Jan Cyrka (a successful accomplished musician/composer, who works for the BBC) to re-record them at his London Studio and both songs went direct onto his 'YouTube' channel. After this, he was approached by various companies, & with his help, there's some very promising prospects ahead. This is an exciting time, and I cant wait to start creating/composing my own music & I am eternally 'Thankful', to those who have inspired, and who still continue to help me on this journey.
